【一】with复合结构通常作以下状语

【1】作时间状语

With his homework done, Peter went out to play.  作业做好了，彼得出去玩了。

With the signal given, the train started.信号发出了，火车开始起动了。

With spring coming on, trees turn green.春天到了，树变绿了。

【2】作原因状语

I wouldn’t dare go home without the job finished.工作还没完成，我不敢回家。

With machinery to do all the work, they will soon have got in the crops.由于所有工作都是由机器进行，他们将很快收完庄稼。

With his son so disappointing，the old man felt unhappy.由于儿子如此令人失望,老人感到很不快乐。

The meeting ended on a sour note with neither side able to reach agreement. 由于双方未能取得一致意见，会议不欢而散。

The peace talks have ended inconclusively with neither side prepared to give way on key points. 

由于双方都不愿意在关键问题上让步，和平谈判不了了之。

【3】作方式状语

The soldier had him stand with his back to his father. 士兵要他背对着他父亲站着。

She said good-bye with tears in her eyes．她含着眼泪说了声再见。 

She sleeps with the window open.她爱开着窗户睡觉。

Don't stand with your hands in your pockets.站着的时候别把双手插在口袋里。

【4】作伴随状语

The boy always sleeps with his head on the arm. 这个孩子总是头枕着胳膊睡觉。

He was asleep with his head on his arms． 他头枕着胳膊睡着了。

【二】with介词短语通常作以下状语

【1】作对象状语

She lives with her parents.她同父母住在一起。

She is currently staying with her father at his home.  她现在陪父亲呆在家里。

【2】作方式状语

Cut it with a knife.用刀把它切开。

It is treated with acid before being analysed.对它先用酸处理再进行分析。

He behaved with great dignity.他举止庄重威严。

Tom is teaching her to read music with skill and sensitivity.汤姆正在教她熟练而敏锐地识乐谱

He agreed with reluctance.  他很勉强地同意了。

【3】作原因状语

Gil was white and trembling with anger.吉尔气得脸色煞白，浑身发抖。

She blushed with embarrassment.她难为情得脸红了。

His fingers were numb with cold.他的手指冻麻了

【4】作伴随状语

With a sigh, she leaned back and closed her eyes  她叹了口气，身体向后倚靠，闭上了眼睛。

 The front door closed with a crash behind him.前门在他身后砰的一声关上了。

【5】作方面状语

Our aim is to allow student teachers to become familiar with the classroom.我们的目标就是让实习教师熟悉课堂。

He still has a serious problem with money.他手头儿还是很紧。
