请问这里的as many do 如何翻译？是跟其他许多人一样？还是跟其他许多人不一样？如果翻译成不一样是因为主句是否定结构吗？如果是He is arguing,as many do.......（肯定结构）是翻译成和其他许多人一样吗？

其实，赵振才教授讨论过，主句为否定句时，as引导的比较分句的修饰范围问题。供网友参考:

1 当as引导的比较分句位于具有否定意义的主句之前时，as从句所修饰的范围是整个主句内容，即，把否定意义也包括在内。

2 当as引导的比较分句位于具有否定意义的主句中间或之后时，as从句所修饰的范围不包括否定意义。

网友例句，符合第二条规则，即，语意上解释为，many argue that…，而He is not arguing that…，as从句不包括否定意义。
