3 虚拟语气的句意理解疑问

1. lf the steamer should have left port at noon,it will be passing through the canal now.

2. (a)You can imagine what would have happened to her if she should have told the truth.

(b)You can imagine what would have happened to her if she would have told the truth.

我的疑问是，怎么理解第一句中从句虚拟语气所表达的意思？怎么理解2a和2b的句意差异？

if从句用should，则条件可能会实现，也可能不会实现。根据主句谓语动词的语气可以做出判断。如果主句用陈述语气，则if从句侧重条件可能是真实的。如果主句用虚拟语气，则条件可能是非真实的。所以第一句主句用will be passing陈述语气形式，则should have left表示的是真实条件，即汽轮有可能真的是中午离港的，不属于虚拟语气。2a中的what would have happened为虚拟语气形式，由此可知if从句的should have told是非真实条件，即她实际上并没有说出实情。2b中的if从句用would have done是语法错误。
