用 after the theatre 表示“看完戏后”是完全可以的，此时的 the theatre 表示“戏”，而不是“剧院”。如：

Shall we invite them back after the theatre? 看完戏我们把他们邀回家去好吗?

We stayed overnight in London after the theatre. 我们看完戏后在伦敦住了一晚。

After the theatre we had supper and went to a nightclub; then we finally went home. 看了戏之后，我们吃了晚饭，逛了夜总会，最后才回家去。

联想以下类似用法：

Do your nails after your bath as they will be softer. 洗完澡再修剪指甲，因为那时的指甲较软。
