be determined to do sth 表示状态,可以与表示段时间的短语连用。determine to do sth 表示动作，在肯定句中，不可以与表示段时间的短语连用。例如，薄冰教授在《英语惯用法词典》中指出：“不可说：For a long time he determined (或has determined) to propose to her. 应说：For a long time he was determined to propose to her. 他决定要向她求婚已经很久了。”
