3 as 的用法（涉及as when）
Some adventures were quiet - as when he found a lovely book about bears to read. And some adventures were loud - as when he discovered the trumpet.
上面两个句子如果没有破折号和as，改写后的句子比较好理解：Some adventures were quiet when he found a lovely book about bears to read. And some adventures were loud when he discovered the trumpet.
但原文增加了破折号和词汇as。
请问：怎样分析和理解as在绘本句子中的用法。

破折号在此相当于逗号，as引导比较分句，意为就像...那样。as省略了it was，when从句是as比较分句中的时间状语从句。
