关系副词引导定语从句问题

Pipe smokers sometimes wear down the tips of their teeth where they grip their pipes.

曹老师我想请教您一下：

1.这里的where引导的是定语从句嘛？

2.老师关系副词是都可以转换成“介词+关系代词”么？之前碰到的句子，先行词都比较常规，好像都能转换，但是这个句子里先行词是“tip of their teeth”，这时候关系副词还能转换成“介词+关系代词”嘛？

1 是定语从句。2 先行词是their teeth。where=between which。
