plan后跟that宾语从句用法

I always planned that the book would be titled ”One Day“.

这里的would什么用法？可以换成其他词，比如should、was to等吗？

plan后面不能接 that -宾语从句。

would表示“过去将来”，似乎也可以换成should、was to。

plan接that从句的情况比较少。词典上的例句如下：

[V that] They planned that the two routes would connect.（Oxford - plan词条）

[to plan that] I'd planned that we would split up. （新世纪英汉大词典 - plan词条）

建议少用为妙。
