in front of the class 没有错，指的是“在全班同学们面前”，或者是“当着全班同学的面”。
注意这里的 class 不是“教室”，而是指“全班（学生）”。又如：
The class reassembled after lunch. 午饭后，全班学生又集合起来。
She gave the whole class extra homework for a week. 她给全班学生额外安排了一星期的家庭作业。
The whole class was/were told to stay behind after school. 全班学生被告知放学后留下。
