当我们想感谢某人的付出，特别是sth positive，常用grateful，所以gratefull更多地是偏向action；

因为某事（也包括sth negative, sth bad）没有发生，而松了口气，谢天谢地，常用thankful。所以thankful是种feeling。

【一】thankful(adj.  感谢的，感激的; 欣慰的;): 表示感谢时，其对象较为抽象，含有感谢上帝、 运气、命运等意味，有类似于汉语的谢天谢地之意。主要用于表示人们因避开了危险或结束了不愉快的经历等的宽慰心情。主要有以下几种结构

【1】be thankful to do sth 做某事感到很欣慰

I’m thankful to know that he's safe. 得知他很安全，我感到很欣慰。

【2】be thankful that 主语很欣慰

I’m thankful that we got home before the storm started.谢天谢地，我们在暴风雨来临前到了家。

I was thankful that he hadn't been hurt.他没有受伤，我感到很欣慰。

Most of the time I'm just thankful that I've got a job.多数时候我只是庆幸自己有份工作。

【3】be thankful for sth 对某事非常感激

I was so thankful for his support.我对他的支持非常感激。

【二】 grateful(adj.感激的；表示感谢的 ) 表示感谢时，其对象比较具体，它主要用于人们在得到好处、恩惠、善待等情况下表达的感激之情。

【1】be grateful (to sb) for sth 感谢某人某事

I’m very grateful (to you) for all your help. 非常感谢你的一切帮助。

I am extremely grateful (to all the teachers) for their help.我非常感谢所有老师的帮助。

【2】be grateful (to sb)for doing sth 感谢某人做了某事

She was grateful (to him) for being so good to her.他对她这么好，令她很感激。

【3】be grateful to do sth 很感激做某事

She seems to think I should be grateful to have a job at all.她似乎认为我有份工作就该谢天谢地了。

I am grateful to hear you have put in a good word for my son.听说你替我儿子美言，我很感激。

【4】be grateful that 非常庆幸

He was grateful that she didn't tell his parents about the incident.他感到庆幸的是她未将此事告诉他父母。

【5】would be grateful if-从句   如果..我将不胜感激

I would be grateful if you could send the completed form back as soon as possible.如果你能尽快将表格填好寄回我将不胜感激。

【6】be gratefully done 很感激(被)做某事

All donations will be gratefully received.如蒙捐助，定将报以衷心的感谢。

【7】give sb a grateful smile 给某人一个感激微笑

Kate gave him a grateful smile.凯特感激地对他笑了笑。
