备注:pay a man for the hand of his daughter in marriage 字面文字意思“向一个男人支付费用因为要娶他女儿/向他女儿求婚”转换以下理解“因要娶他的女儿而向他支付费用=也就是彩礼”

the hand of sb in marriage向某人求婚
