【1】result 可以动词使用和名词使用如下

(1)当名词使用 “后果；结果”因为某事的发生导致另一事情发生。

This book is the result of 25 years of research.

这本书是25年研究的结晶。

(2)当动词使用“导致;引起;造成”即A事情引起B事情构成短语搭配result in sth

Fifty per cent of road accidents result in head injuries.

50％的道路交通事故都会导致头部损伤。

Regular trips back to her adopted motherland have resulted in her first book, Tiger Balm.

经常返回她移居的国家让她写出了她的第一本书《万金油》。

(3)当动词使用“由…产生;由…引起”A事情由B事情引起 result from

(1)as a result of sth 作为某事的结果发生/因为某事

She died as a result of her injuries.她由于受伤而死亡。

Compensation is available for people who have developed asthma as a direct result of their work.

直接因工作原因患上哮喘的人会获得赔偿。

(2) 作状语，前面原因导致后面结果

He made one big mistake, and, as a result, lost his job.他犯了个大错，结果丢了工作。

为什么要区分 result 和 as a result 呢？虽然它们都可以翻译成“结果”，但 result 是名词，as a result 是介词短语，它们的句法功能完全不同，不可能发生混淆吧！
