pineapple谓语单复数疑惑

网上看到一篇文章，pineapple后面用了复数谓语were，请问老师这是对的吗？

Did you know that pineapple were named after pinecones? The Spanish called pineapples the 'Pine of the Indies' because they were both hard and spiky.

pineapple 可以作可数名词，也可以作不可数名词。所以，在网友的句子中，应该把 pineapple 后面的 were 改为 was ；或者把 pineapple 改为 pineapples。

以上属于“拼写” 或者打印错误，pineapple漏掉了s，正确写法应该"pineapples”，应该用复数形式pineapples与后面谓语动词were保持主谓一致。
