The Johnsons have a place (where) they can get away from other people.

这一句是否可以改写为The Johnsons have where they can get away from other people.where做融合型关系副词，引导名词性关系分句

但好像旋元佑在书中指出不能省略名词类的a place，只能省略副词类的where。他好像认为where，when这些关联词引导的名词从句只能为由疑问句改造来的，when，where只能为疑问词不是关系词。也就是只能引导名词性疑问分句不能引导名词性关系分句。

还有这一句 I need some time (when)I can be with my daughter.书中认为改为I need when I can be with my daughter是错的。

该书说的没错，但我不太熟悉用语法术语来解释，我自己学习的体会是这样的：你所说的where的这种用法，不能做have等类似含义的词的宾语，所以The Johnsons have where they can get away from other people.是错误的。但有些动词可以，如：The Johnsons have told me where they can get away from other people. 或在句中做表语或状语也可以。假设我们把问题句的have 改为stay 也可以，即：The Johnsons stay where they can get away from other people. （状语）或表语：Our neighbourhood is where they can get away from other people. 你的另一句道理基本相同。I need some time (when)I can be with my daughter. 本句中when 可以省略，但some time 不可以。或用其他合适的词替换need 才可以直接跟when, 如： I know when I can be with my daughter.
