1.This is where he was born

2.He lives where the climate is mild

请教曹老师：

where在以上两句话中为融合型关系副词;即：先行词+定语从句. = (in/at/to) the place where/that/in which

（1）.1句相当于This is the place where he was born

这里的融合型关系副词where也是先行词与关系代词缩合而成，为什么没有将其称为融合型关系代词呢？？？

（2）. 2句可以改为： He lives in the place where the climate is mild

(in/at/to) the place where/that/in which 是不是只有融合型关系副词引导的副词性关系分句作状语时，才能在the place前面加介词？？？？

又例如： New York was where the "new America" was coming into being

可以改为：New York was the place where the "new America" was coming into being

因为不是作状语；所以the place前面没有介词

（3）、the place 前是否可以跟其它的介词？？？

例如： He could tell from the place where she was standing that she was the pretty maiden h e had not danced with

from the place 用融合型关系副词where代替：

He could tell where she was standing that she was the pretty maiden h e had not danced with

1 因为where要在从句中作状语，起副词的作用，所以where是融合型关系副词。2 是的，the place where的中心词是名词the place，是无法在主句中作状语的，必须加介词in，to，at等，构成介词短语，在主句中作状语。3 其他介词通常不可以。你这个句子只能说 from where she was standing...，where引导名词性关系分句，作介词from的宾语。
