关于不定时与现在分词的区别

老师们好，现在分词和不定式都可以做后置定语和状语，可是为什么下面两个句子，参考答案给的都是现在分词

句子1：They often meet with problems (requiring) all kinds of solutions.

句子2：They found a new way to fight against cancer ,(offering)hope to cancer suffers .

第一个句子用to require 不是也能做后置定语修饰problems ? 第二个句子 to offer不是也能表示做句子的结果状语？

They often meet with problems (requiring) all kinds of solutions. 这是现在分词短语作定语，修饰problems。静态动词的现在分词作定语，表示被修饰名词在谓语动作发生是所处的状态，即该状态在谓语动词时间是同时存在的。如果改用定语从句，则用与谓语时间相同的一般体。即...problems that require all kinds of solutions.

They found a new way to fight against cancer, (offering) hope to cancer sufferers. 这是现在分词作结果状语，分词的逻辑主语为前面句子的内容，可以改为which引导的非限制性定语从句，which的先行词为主句内容，即，which offered hope to cancer sufferers. 现在分词作结果状语，分词的动作紧接着谓语动作发生或与谓语动作同时发生，所以不用不定式。
