some of them you feel are behind中的定语从句问题

You may look at some of your friends and think that they're ahead of you, maybe some of them you feel are behind, but everything happens at their own pace.

这是出现在一段演讲中的一句话，对some of them you feel are behind这句有疑惑，出现feel和are两个动词，感觉上应该是定语从句，you feel修饰前面的some of them，核心句是some of them are behind，但又觉得you feel修饰前面的主语表达“你感觉的他们中的一些”很别扭，写成You feel some of them are behind更顺畅。

不知道这句是不是我认为的定语从句，如果是，为什么要用定语从句表达you feel而不是写成You feel some of them are behind。请老师解惑，谢谢！

you feel不是定语从句，而是插入语。这是演讲的书面整理文字，整理者本该在you feel 前后用逗号的。因为在演讲中，you feel是用语调与句子其他部分分隔的。句子应该是：maybe some of them, you feel, are behind...。从语法上讲，没有逗号分隔的you feel是错误的。
