of的用法

Granted, it's not the most pleasant of jobs but it has to be done.

的确，这不是最令人愉快的工作，但也得做呀。

问：为什么不是it's not the most pleasant jobs，偏偏非要加上个of ，是为什么？这里的of 的词性用法意义是什么？还有其语法作用？

介词“of” 的 “表示...中最突出的” 的用法，如：the hero of heroes最杰出的英雄，in one's heart of hearts在内心深处， the most pleasant （one/ job）of jobs。

这里的 the most pleasant 是形容词最高级，作表语; of jobs 是状语，表示比较范围。不能说 it's not the most pleasant of jobs ，但是可以说：It's not the most pleasant job.
