The difficulties are even greater than appears at first sight.
The girls are much taller than appears at first sight.
Here are 2 comparison clauses
I was wondering which sentence is more natural and why. Thank you
1.The girls are much taller than appears at first sight.
2.The girls are much taller than they appear at first sight.
I’m a little confused too — not by why seem doesn’t work that way, but by why appear does! Or maybe it’s just how they sound to me?
