5 关于冠词的问题

cover an area of...

has a history of ....

at a speed of ...

has a population of

些短语中为什么用a而不用the 呢，of 介词短语不是修饰限定的作用吗？谢谢老师！

of 介词短语所修饰的名词前面有的用定冠词，有的用不定冠词。最好是在学习中注意积累。如：

cover an area of... 面积是......；占地......

has a history of .... 有......的历史

a history of heart disease in the family 家族心脏病史

the history of the world 世界史

a sense of history 历史感

at a speed of ... 以.......的速度

has a population of ...有......人口；人口是......

备注：以上不定冠词“a/an” 都表示一种泛指关系， of +数词+面积单位(名词) 构成介词短语修饰前面名词

【1】an area of 5000 square meters 面积为5000平方米(表示泛指含义用不定冠词an)

【2】the area of the triangle 这个三角形的面积(表示特指含义用定冠词“the”)

关于area在句中的三种句型表达如下

【1】This room covers an area of 12 square meters.这个房间占地面积12平方米。

【2】This room is 12 square meters in area.这个房间面积是12平方米。

【3】The area of this room is 12 square meters.这个房间的面积是12平方米。
