下面例句中more……than都表示“与其……不如……”，为什么有的加了of，有的没有？什么时候可以加，什么时候不加？是不是of加不加都可以？

如果 more of 后接名词，也可以不用 of ，如：What she did was more （of） a mistake than a crime. 她做的事与其说是犯罪，不如说是错误。

如果 more 后面不是直接接名词，就不用 of ，如：I was more amused than shocked by what she told me. 她对我说的事没使我感到怎么震惊，倒使我觉得好笑。The words were spoken more in sadness than in anger. 这些话与其说是带着愤怒说出来的，倒不如说是带着哀伤说出来的。

1. more 后面如果是代词，或有代词修饰语，必须用of. 例如： I saw more of her / his brother than her dad.

2. more 后面如果是名词或名词词组，（可数单数要用不定冠词，不能用the)，后面的of 可以可无。保留of属于比较正式的文体。如你提供的词典例句：She's more （of） a poet than a novelist. of 可有可无。

3. more 如果修饰形容词，动词，分词，介词短语等，不能用of. 如你提供的例句：The words were spoken more in sadness than in anger. I was more amused than shocked by what she told me.
