英语send 的意思，不是“本人亲自送”。而是“派遣，打发，叫去”：If you send someone somewhere, you tell them to go there. If you send something somewhere, you ask someone to do so. 例如：

He sent a gift to his girlfriend. 不是他本人把礼品亲自送给女朋友，而是通过别人（快递）送去。

They sent  their son to the countryside. 他们把儿子送到农村去。（派他去，不是亲自送他去）

they are sent there by a doctor. 意思是，“医生安排他们到医院”，不是医生亲自送他们到医院。
