比较分句中比较对项的省略的问题

If this place falls, a lot more people are gonna wind up dead than the ones in that house.

请问专家，这个句子的比较项是a lot more people，按道理对应项应该省略，但是后面出现了the ones是对的吗？被省略的对应项到底是谁呢？

我认为这个句子中the ones 应该删去，因为主语是比较对应项，不能在从句中出现。即句子应该为：

If this place falls, a lot more people are gonna wind up dead than in that house.

那是指相同的比较对应项做主语，在比较分句保留谓语动词的情况下省略，如： A lot more people survived than were killed in that house.

你的问题句，the ones 可以省略。有也不算错。例句：More people died than those who were left.
