Olympics作主语时的主谓一致问题

有一个语法填空题是这样的：

As the 2022 Winter Olympics__________(schedule) to be held in China in February,a section of the calendar will introduce royal winter sports during the Qing Dynasty through art pieces.

答案只给了一个就是is scheduled

我的看法则是这里应该用are scheduled，或者至少应该两者皆可。所以请问各位老师当Olympics作主语时，谓语动词到底用单数还是复数比较合适？（因为之前的习题也见过虽然是具体指特定的某一届奥运会，但是主语仍然用复数的情况）。

Olympics习惯上要连用定冠词，相当于the Olympic Games；用作主语时，谓语动词可用单数或复数，但在现代英语中以用复数为多见。

The Olympics is / are held every four years. 奥林匹克运动会每4年办一次。

The Olympics is / are broadcast live around the world. 运会赛事在全球各地直播。

所以，你的句子用 is scheduled 或 are scheduled 都可以。
