好题分享(07):填空题(want sb doing, want sb's doing)

I don’t want _______ (him/his) doing that.

请问哪个正确?还是两个都可以?

牛津词典有 want somebody/something doing something的动词句型,例句为I don't want you coming home so late.

朗文则进一步指出这个句型用在否定句don't want somebody doing something 结构。当词典给出这种用法时,其实是告诉读者doing是现在分词做宾补,而不是动名词。所以doing前的代词必须用宾格,不能用属格,因为这不是动名词复合结构。这个结构中的作宾补的现在分词也可以改用不定式。朗文的说明如下:

You say I don’t want someone doing something, when this is annoying or causes problems:

I don’t want other people telling me how to spend my money.

You can also say:

I don’t want other people to tell me how to spend my money.

所以好题老师这个句子只能用宾格代词作宾语,后接现在分词作宾补。用属格是错误的。
