老师好，比较有以下两种表达：

例子是我自己写的：

1. 倍数+形容词比较级 + than … ： The room of Mary is twice larger than that of Tom.

2. 倍数+ that + of … ： The room of Mary twice that of Tom.

第二个用法可以看出是第一个的省略么？第二个句子中，of……是不是只是that的修饰成分，可以换成其它修饰成分？

句子不正确tom·s另外第二句不能直接that前面要有比较对象

英语不说the room of Mary, 要改为Mary's room.这是中国学生常见的错。你的第二个可以写为：2. Mary's room is twice that of Tom's. 我给你几个例句：1. Its overall area is roughly twice that of Norway. 2. Black infant mortality is twice that of white babies. 3. For example, the uptake of silicon is about twice that of nitrogen in rice.

你可以把twice that of看作是习惯用法。
