关于倍数和比较结构的疑问

1. an area twice the size of Wales

这是我在牛津高阶词典上看到的一个名词词组，twice the size of Wales直接作了后置定语，可以这么用吗？道理是什么？能否举出一些类似的例句？

2. Dog's sense of smell is up to 100,000 times greater than human being's.

up to是介词，应该接名词或表示方位或事件的副词，这里为什么接了形容词比较级？

3. More than 5 people have been killed.

这句话的主语到底是什么？我的分析是More是代词，主语就是more，than是介词，than 5 people介词短语作more的修饰语，这样的分析是否正确？

4. More than twice as many tons of corrugated cardboard are recycled each year than(as) are tons of newspaper.

这里的more than可否同样把more分析为代词？该如何分析此句？另外，如果把more than删去，twice as many tons of corrugated cardboard就变成主语了，但是，这个是名词词组吗？而且倍数 + as...as结构一般是作表语，为什么能作主语呢？

5. He has lived there for as long as 5 years.

这里的as long as我的分析是第一个as是副词，修饰long，而long是表示时间的副词，作for的宾语，第二个as 5 years是比较分句，修饰long，是否正确？

注：不要说是固定搭配或习语或看成整体，这样的说法很牵强，无法令人信服，我现在就是要专门扣语法！

谢邀答。这些句子的含义应该很容易理解。上面曹老师已经写到了，扣语法貌似不是这个扣法儿，扣的方向不太对。字典亦把此种more than, as long as视为整体对待，愣要把它们拆开分析，这么做也没啥子意义吧。以下是我自己的理解：

1.an area twice the size of Wales=an area (that/which is) twice the size of Wales. twice为副词；A is double/twice the size or age(或其他) of B. 这种表达方式很常见；

2. up to可以看成是个副词，修饰数词100，000，原句子去掉up to的话从语法结构上也没啥影响；

3. more than整体亦可视为一副词，修饰数词5；

4.more than整体视为一副词，修饰副词twice，这个去掉more than的话除了句意上也不影响啥。

We recycled more than twice as many tons of corrugated cardboard each year than(as) are tons of newspaper.

这个句子转为被动句就是原句子吧。后面的than/as作为连词看待，引导状语从句，且后面的从句用了倒装。(具体的比较状语从句这个我不太了解，我主要是从语感的角度来判断的)

5. as long as亦作为整体看待，可看作一个副词性质的短语。

You also use as long as to say that something lasts for a long period of time, or for as much time as possible.

例句：

Any stomach ache that persists for as long as one hour should be seen by a doctor. PS：此种情况不可用so long as。
