句子中的through until是什么成份

老师们好，我想问问这个结构中 through和until是不是重复了？From the 40s through until the mid-1970s ，用from .. through..或者from ... until...不就可以表达意思了么？为什么要用through until呢？

through until是英语里经常出现的一种用法，through表示和前面的时间连续直到下一个时间。但不用through的情况更多见。使用through可以起到强调的作用。我找到两个有through的例句和一个不用through的例句，供参考：

1）Along with the bean soup that one could eat from morning through until night, a guest might also get a good thump.

2）There was a great battle - by your head, it lasted from morning through until the evening!

3）He kept steadily at his work from morning until night.
