不同时态的含义理解

请教老师，in the past状语，究竟应该是用一般过去时，还是现在完成时呢？

网上说2种都可以，那么，问题是，上面2句究竟是什么含义理解差别呢？

In the past 可以指明显的过去时间（例如时间点：1950年），也可以指模糊的过去时间（迄今为止以前的任何时间），类似于 before。

In the past, scientists often worked alone. 在过去，科学家常常单独工作。

用现在完成时强调过去的经历。例如：

I've had my fair share of success in the past. 过去我已经取得了应有的成功。

My children have wounded me in the past. 我的孩子们过去曾伤害过我。

这两句的区别，就是一般过去时和现在完成时的区别。
