others还是the others

It was Monday morning, and the writing class had just begun. Everyone was silent, waiting to see who would be called upon to read his or her paragraph aloud. Some of us were confident and eager to take part in the class activity; others were nervous and anxious.
是否应该在最后一句的others前面加the呢？
背景是全班在上写作课，一些同学渴望参加活动，应该是其余同学都是焦虑紧张的吧，那是不是把others前加the，特指其余的那些同学呢？

说话人的意思，并不刻意强调这个班级只有 “两类人”，而且也没有必要进行这种划分。some..., others...这种描述，主要用来说明不同种类的人或物，可能还有其他情况。说话人无意把全部的人或物，去一分为二。
当然，如果一个班级有50人，男生是30人，剩余的20人是女生，也是全部，那么，你就用 the others。
或者，一个班里有50人，三十人来自城市，其余的人都来自农村，我们就说：The others come from the countryside.
