请问老师for 在这里的用法是不是不对，for表示因为的时候并不是连词而是介词？

for可以作为并列连词表示原因，连接并列句；也可以作为介词表示原因，介词短语作状语。为什么要把二者对立起来呢？

I still deny this practice for their potential damage. 介词短语作原因状语。

I still deny this practice, for it may cause damage. for为连词，连接并列句，表示因果关系。
