The home robot
Mr Jiang is a manager of a big company in Sunshine Town.
He is always too busy to have any time to relax.
“I have to buy a robot so that I can have more free time,” Mr Jiang thought.
So he ordered one from a robot shop.
The robot made Mr Jiang's life much easier.
When he got up in the morning. breakfast was made, his business suit was smoothly ironed, and his lunch box was already prepared. That made him very happy.
While Mr Jiang was at work, the robot would do all the housework, It would go shopping at the supermarket as well.
When Mr Jiang returned home from work, his flat would look as good as new, and a delicious dinner would be ready for him. After dlinner, the robot would tidy up. That allowed Mr Jiang to do whatever he liked.
He would watch TV or do some reading. It seemed that in general the robot satisfied Mr Jiang's needs.
请教老师：
1）When Mr Jiang returned home from work - 如果没有上下文，就本句而言，是否可以有2种理解，一是过去发生的单一事件，二是就是“所谓主将从现“中的“从现“中的退一步时态=过去的将来时？
2）黑体字would是表示“过去的习惯”吗？
3）为什么不是That would allow Mr. Jiang to do...却用了That allowed Mr. Jiang to do 呢？

这段文字并不是讲具体某一天发生的事，而是讲有了机器人之后每天都会发生的事。所以不存在你所说的如果不看上下文，作这种假设是没有意义的。这里的would都是表示习惯意义的，如果will可以表示现在的习惯一样。表示习惯的will或者would是由推测意义引申而来的。删去will/would 也不影响句子表示习惯。你的这段文字中，删去所有的would，在前面用一个everyday，这段话的意思基本不变。
