the first time 在句子做什么成分

请问老师，the first time可以做连词引导时间状语从句，那请问第2和第3句的the first time是做时间状语吗？有规定是要使用“完成时态”吗？

1 The first time I went to Greece, I had a sense of belonging. （连词）

2 He had been right the first time. （时间状语）

3 The first time I had heard this. （时间状语）

2 He had been right the first time. （本句可以用一般过去时）

3 The first time I had heard this. （应该是 It was the first time I had heard this. 的省略说法。主句用 was，定语从句须用过去完成时）
