这才是标准的独立主格结构：分词作状语带有自己的逻辑主语，分词的逻辑主语用主格形式，现代英语名词的主格消失了，代之以通格，但人称代词有主格、宾格之分的，仍然用主格形式。

Somebody hasn't understood that 'waiting' is not a verb although it is an important part of the continuous tenses when used with 'to be'.

'Waiting' is a participle and can often be used on its own to make a participle phrase. Because 'waiting' is a participle and not a full verb form showing tense, it cannot have a noun or pronoun subject, such as 'I'.

You could say 'Waiting for a bus, I was hit on the head by a falling brick'.
Here the participle refers to the subject of the main verb 'was hit', which is 'I': it must always refer to the subject of the main clause, 'I was waiting for a bus'.

So we can't write 'Waiting for a bus a brick fell on my head', because the brick was not waiting for a bus.
It's my view that it's usually better to use a clause with a verb than a participle phrase.
