我觉得你的选择比参考答案“更佳”。

▲如果仅从语法上看，本题选 A和B都可以。但如果结合句子意思，则 B 比 A 更好。比较它们的意思（字面意思），看看哪个更好：

There aren’t many pandas alive in the world today. 在当今世界上没有很多活着的大猫熊。

There aren’t many pandas living in the world today. 没有很多大猫熊生活在当今世界上。（这样用的 living 其实可视为是现在分词）

▲alive和living的细微区别是：living 通常是客观描述某人或动物“仍健在（活着）”，而 alive 则主要指生与死的“界限”。比如下面一句用 alive 而不用 living：

He was still alive when I reached the hospital. 当我赶到医院时他还活着。

（1）alive为放在名词后作后置定语的用法(表示与死相对的一种情况）

There be +名词+后置定语+时间状语/地点状语用法

There aren't many pandas( alive) in the world today.

意思：在当今世界还活着的熊猫不是很多了.(只健康还活着大熊猫，不是生病的，死了大熊猫；强调一种活着事物的存在状态）

（2）living为There be +名词+动词现在分词+时间状语/地点状语用法（生活/生存在当今世界里）

There aren't many pandas (living) in the world today（表示依然还生活在/生存在当今世界里；强调一种事物的动作的生存状态）

可以改为一个定语从句:There aren't many pandas (which/that are) living in the world today（可以看作为定语从句省略了关系代词+助动词are 形式）

意思：没有很多熊猫还生活在当今世界里

例如：There is a wallet lying on the ground.=There is a wallet (which/that) is lying on the ground
