我认为 what（在从句中做cost的对象）salt (there is 插入语)，now cost  triple(谓语)  what it did(指cost) a year ago.

——what salt there is 是主语从句。请网友注意两个新的语法术语：传统语法所说的“复合代词” what（在不表示疑问或感叹时），现代语法叫做“融合性关系代词”或“融合性关系限定词”（作定语用）。本句的 what 就是“融合性关系限定词”，作 salt 的定语。

此外， 还有几个问题需要注意：

1. 谓语动词是cost，不是triple。triple是一个限定词“三倍的”，而且是“前位限定词”，限定从句what it did a year ago

2. 这里用cost 是一般过去时，应该使用一般现在时单三形式costs。

3. 谓语和谓语动词是两个概念。在一个简单句中，除了独立成分，谓语是除了主语之外所有成分的总和，它包括谓语动词、宾语、状语、宾语的定语、宾语的补足语在内。

介词短语和不定式关系如下:
第一种理解：不定式( to accomplish for himself)做each的定语（不定式作power的后置定语也相同），即每个实现自我的人。
what it is in the power of each( to accomplish for himself).
翻译1：在每个实现自我的个体的力量中它什么？
翻译2：什么东西在实现自我的个体中的力量里？

第二种理解：不定式(to accomplish for himse)做目的状语.

翻译1：为了实现自己的价值，什么东西在个体的力量（power of each,视each为”个体“）中？

翻译2:为了实现自己的价值，什么东西在每种力量中？(（视power of each为each power)显然这句理解不合理

——关于从句what it is in the power of each to accomplish for himself. 。它是exhibit 的宾语，即宾语从句。这个从句的结构，我们可以演变一下（为了好理解，把 each 换成 everyone）

it is a task in the power of everyone to accomplish for himself. 

就 a task 提问，得到：

what is it in the power of everyone to accomplish for himself?

宾语从句把 is it 调换过来即可。

what it is in the power of everyone to accomplish for himself

翻译：每个人都有能力为自己成就什么

由此看出，in the power of everyone to accomplish for himself 分别作 task 的定语，也就是作 what 的定语。
