2 关于based on的用法
有一个句子we differentiate between fruit and vegetable based on the parts of the plant we eat.汉语字幕意思是我们根据所吃植物的部位来区分水果还是蔬菜。
这句话中based的词性我有些疑惑，如果说是动词，那这句话中就有differentiate和base两处动词了，应该不合语法。如果说是形容词，那形容词又不能修饰前面动词differentiate。请老师帮助分析这个问题。

based on the parts of the plant we eat 是过去分词短语作方式状语，修饰谓语动词 differentiate。
