这里close to…是介词短语作状语吗？

The old man put his armchair close to the stove.

这句的close to…是介词短语作宾补还是状语？

close to 为复合介词，结构“adv. + prep.”。句子的两个介词短语 close to his chest 和 close to the stove 都是作状语，都是一样的结构：S+V+O+A 。

有两种分析：1.作地点状语；2.作结果状语。不建议分析为宾补，因为两个谓语动词没有接宾补的用法。

归纳起来，close to 介词短语，可以作如下成分：
