笼统说，这两句 to 都表示“方向”；具体而言，前者指 “针对性”；后者指 “目的地”。

第3句，if 引导名词性从句时，除了可以代替 whether 引导宾语从句，当主语从句后置时，也可以用 if 引导。

if 也有“是否”的含义，它主要用来引导宾语从句。例如：I wonder whether/if the conclusion is true. 它引导主语从句时，不能放在句首。例如，我们不可以说：If the conclusion is true hasn’t been proved.

但若用 it 作形式主语，则可以用if 引导主语从句，例如：It hasn’t been proved whether/if the conclusion is true.

此外，if 一般不能引导表语从句和同位语从句。
