宾语从句可以从主句中领出来吗

各位专家老师好，我提问一个句子：

The police, on the strength of what he said to Michaelis, that he “had a way of finding out”, supposed that...

根据他对Michaelis说过的他“有办法查出来”，警察猜测……

我分析这个句子里的what是融合性关系代词，所以插入语部分的that he“had a way of finding out”是what所暗号含的the thing的同位语从句，就是on the strength of the thing which he said to Michaels, that he...不知道对不对，希望有老师指点！谢谢！

你的理解是正确的，但that从句不要分析为插入语，直接分析为what的同位语从句即可。
