有关be的用法问题

She asked that she be given more work to do.

这是在《新编英语语法教程》中看到的一句话。请问，这里为什么是用be而不是用was？

She asked that she be given more work to do.

表示 “请求” 的几个动词，如：ask, demand, desire, request, require，其宾语从句的谓语部分，应使用 should + 原形，其中 should 可以省略。这就是省略 should 后的结果。

She asked that she be given more work to do. = She asked that she should be given more work to do.
