Once there stood an old church on the hill.

This novel was once very popular but nobody reads it today.

▲once upon a time 是习语

Once upon a time there was a princess.

Once upon a time there lived a man known by the name of Joe Beef.

‘Once upon a time,’ he began, ‘there was a man who had everything.’“很久很久以前,”他开始说道,“有这么一个人,他应有尽有。”

Once upon a time in a faraway land there lived a princess in a big castle.
