The audience applauded the performance for 5 minutes. 观众为演出鼓掌喝彩达5分钟。（及物用法，不能说 applauded for the performance）
▲类似的例子如：marry 可以用作及物或不及物动词，但若要表示“与……结婚”，它只用作及物动词。如：
He is going to marry Jane. 他将与简结婚。（及物用法，不能说 marry to / with Jane）
He got married late in life. 他结婚很晚。（不及物用法）
He didn’t marry until he was fifty. 他直到五十岁才结婚。（不及物用法）
