There must be few questions on which responsible opinion is utterly divided 至此为there be存在句，on which...为定语从句，修饰主语 few questions. which指代questions. 然后utterly divided 被副词so修饰，as引导比较分句在修饰so utterly divided. 注意few questions为否定意义。在否定句中 as... as... 比较结构常被so... as...结构取代，所以这个句子其实就是存在句（否定句）带了一个定语从句，定语从句中又套了一个（not)... so... as...比较结构。as从句省略了主语、系词is 和表语，只保留了主语的定语on that of how much sleep we ought to have 即that在此为名词替代词，替代名词question，即as (responsible opinion) on the question of how much sleep we ought to have (is).
