It was an extremely cold winter’s evening and freezing fog hung in the
air. I climbed to the top of a small rise and realised that the mist was little
more than a few feet deep, and though it was only a short climb. I found myself
completely above it and looking at a wonderfully clear view of Skiddaw with the
sun setting in the west. I used classical techniques, translated from my
college days spent in the darkroom into Photoshop. to achieve the
black-and-white image (图像).

你引用的的高考题句子没有问题，单词也没有拼写错，错的是你的文档中的标号符号出了问题，though it was only a short climb 后面的句号应该是逗号，也就是说 though it was only a short climb 是让步状语从句，后面的 I found myself ... 是主句，它们俩才是构成主从句复合的结构。
...though it was only a short climb, I found myself completely above it and looking at a wonderfully clear view of Skiddaw with the sun setting in the west.
句意：……虽然只是爬了一小段路，我就发现自己完全站在了雾的上面，看着西边夕阳西下的斯基多的景色非常清晰。
另外，你要注意，你后面 ...Photoshop. to achieve... 中的句号也是错的，也应该是逗号，即：...Photoshop, to achieve...
