▲有时为了强调，我们可将so…that句式中的so…结构置于句首，此时其后的主句必须采用部分倒装的形式（但that引导的结果状语从句不用倒装）。如：

So angry was he that he couldn’t speak. 他如此愤怒，以致说不出话来。

So much did they eat that they could not move for the next hour. 他们吃得太多了，之后一个小时都动弹不得。

So loudly did he speak that even people in the next room could hear him. 他讲话声音那么大，隔壁屋里的人都听得见。

▲这样使用时，有时其后的that也可省略，或改为逗号。如：

So sudden was the attack (that) we had no time to escape. 袭击来得那样突然，我们没有时间逃走。 

So absorbed was he, she hadn’t dared to make a sound. 他是那样聚精会神，她不敢发出一点声音。

▲但是，如果置于句首的so是修饰主语或整个主句，则其后不用倒装。如：

So many arrived at once that I lost count of them. 同时来了这么多，我数不清了。

比较下面的同义句：

那夜非常阴暗，我什么都看不到。

正：It was so dark that night that I could not see anything. 

正：So dark was it that night that I could not see anything. 

正：It was so dark a night that I could not see anything.

正：So dark a night was it that I could not see anything.
