stay to (something) 为习语，意为To remain in some location in order to have a meal (with someone). 即留在某处和某人一起用餐或喝下午茶。通常介词to后接breakfast，lunch, dinner, tea等名词。例如：

A: "Would you like to stay to dinner, Jeff?" B: "Sure! I'll have to ask my parents first, though."

I hope you will stay to dinner.

I stayed to lunch because they were having fried shrimp.

这个意义中的to也可以用for替换。但for的含义更广，不限于吃饭、喝茶。
