In many respects, the murder of Alante Hands last year on a Chicago street was sadly unremarkable. He was young, just 27, and black, like four in every five homicide victims in the city. He was young (just 27) and black (like four in every five victims in the city).
just 27补充说明young。like介词短语补充说明black。该城市每5个被杀者中有四个是黑人。与年龄无关。所以，这个句子严格讲，只有二个表语，young and black. 这就是为什么二者用and 连接。

1. 因为young 和black 并列。just 27补充说明young，相当于同位插入语。如果想强调，也可以在just 27前在加一个and.

1）like部分是介词短语，作状语，你可以移动到其它位置，如
He，like four in every five homicide victims in the city， was young, just 27, and black
或
Like four in every five homicide victims in the city，he was young, just 27, and black
2) when he was arrested while still a minor还原后是
when (he was arrested while he was still a minor)，可以看到在层次上while从句是when从句的一个子结构，而while he was中的he was 产生重复，作者进行了省略处理。
...he was arrested while doing....
...he was arrested while still young....
由此我推导出，while a minor这个结构和上面一样，也是可行的。
