请问老师这两个句子都是正确的么?如果不正确错在哪里?due to和owing to的区别又是什么呢?

表示原因的介词短语 “owing to ...” 和 “ due to ...” 都可以做状语。如:
The ambassador was absent owing to (= due to) illness. 大使因病缺席。(《韦氏高阶英汉双解词典》p.1488)
表示原因的介词短语 “owing to ...” 不能作表语, “ due to ...” 则可以。例如,《麦克米伦高阶英汉双解词典》(p.1491)指出:
owing to 和 due to 都表示“因为”。 除了 due to 能用在动词 to be 后以外,这两个短语的用法完全一样:Their failure wes due to a lack of care and attention . (Not: was owing to) 他们的失败是由于不够细心和专注造成的。 ( 不能用 owing to)
所以,这个句子是错误的:His success was owing to his mother.
