A personal visit carries with it the additional feature of having to be in the person’s presence for as long as the visit lasts.
1. carries with it the additional feature = carries the additional feature with it。这里，carry 及物动词，the additional feature 是其宾语。with it 是介词短语，因为宾语太长，with it 前置了，结果把动宾分隔。it 指前文的 visit。这是 carry sth. with sb. 结构的灵活运用，字面意思是“随身携带”，引申为“具有；拥有”。
2. 第二个问题几经解答。
3. have to be in the person’s presence：这是 have to do sth. 结构，意思是“不得不在此人面前，只好当着此人的面”。介词 of 后面，要接动名词，所以使用having to be...
